Little Big Horn College: Cultural Learning Lodge
The Little Big Horn College Cultural Learning Lodge was designed to house community events and meetings, periodic exhibitions, and Apsáalooke cultural classes, including language, drumming, singing, and dance. The building includes a gathering space, a kitchen, and offices. The building was designed based on a traditional Crow beadwork pattern, and the four log poles supporting the roof emulate the four base poles of the Crow Teepee Lodge. The building is merged into the ground with earth berms to represent the Hidatsa Earth Lodge. The Hidatsa are the sister tribe of the Crow Nation. The entrance-way faces the rising sun at summer solstice and the center of the Dance Arbor, located at the heart of the campus.
