Our work seeks to emulate traditional indigenous architecture – which was the greenest architecture, built with locally available renewable resources and responding to the local climate and always achieving more with less, a fundamental principle of green design. Our designs attempt to create contemporary buildings which use less energy, less non-renewable materials, and which are highly responsive to the local climate. We achieve this through a rigorous design process that follows LEED guidelines (the US Green Building Council’s green design criteria) and incorporates energy modeling to determine optimal building orientation, materials, and systems. 7 Directions Architects/Planners is a proud member of the US Green Building Council, the governing body of the LEED program.
