Apsáalooke Tribal Administration Building

The Apsáalooke Tribal Administration Building was designed for the Cedric Black Eagle Administration. The site selected for the project was on the grounds of the old Crow tribal hospital, which was previously used for the offices of the Tribal Administration. The intent was to build a new structure on the same site, as it fronts a large park at the center of Crow Agency. 7 Directions went through an engagement process with officials and staff to develop the programming of the building and develop a design concept for the project.

The three-story building complex was designed to house the executive branch of the Crow Tribe executive branch offices, the Health and Human Services Department, Cultural Department, Economic Development, Education, Land & Natural Resources, and the Bureau of Indian Affairs. The building was a part of a master plan that included a new courthouse and legislative building surrounding the existing park, with a central dance arbor for outdoor public gatherings. The design of the building complex represents Crow Teepee Lodges, and the main gathering hall at the center of the building was designed to emulate the traditional headdress of the Crow Tribe.
