Nageezi House

The Nageezi House is a single family design-build prototype for the Nageezi community on the Navajo Reservation, built with both volunteer student labor and the Navajo Housing Authority construction crew. The prototype was completed with the ASU Stardust Center and was selected for Global Green’s Blueprint for Greening Affordable Housing. The building utilizes Green Building Features, including rainwater collection, passive solar design, Navajo FlexCrete, SIPs roofing, radiant floor heating, and natural cooling and ventilation. Navajo FlexCrete is an aerated/fiber-reinforced concrete in block form developed by the Navajo Housing Authority. The house was the first to be built using Navajo FlexCrete and became a building model for the Navajo Housing Authority, standardizing Navajo FlexCrete as a material for buildings and houses.
